For official minor requirements, you must consult with the College Academic Bulletin. The information below is not the official record.

The minor requires 15 credit hours in History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine, chosen in consultation with an adviser, including:

• One introductory course: X102, X200, or X451
• One core course: X340 or X411
• Research Ethics: document with the department that you have completed the no-credit courses/workshops offered through the IU Office of Research Compliance: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) and Human Subject Research. Research Ethics Workshops are offered 4 times per year. Find registration information on the IU Research website.
• One course from the “Tool Skill” list found in the College of Arts and Sciences Bulletin
• One course from the Elective list found in the College of Arts and Sciences Bulletin
• One capstone course: X433

Selected courses in the department fulfill some of the College of Arts and Sciences fundamental skills requirements, as well as some distribution requirements for: Traditions and Ideas; Social Inquiry; Historical Studies; and Mathematical Sciences and Cognition. All other schools accept approved History and Philosophy of Science and Medicine courses to fulfill some of their distribution requirements.
