I am very saddened by the news of the death of Ron Giere. As a graduate student I remember reading with huge curiosity is Science Without Laws (1999) and his very many articles on models and scientific representation have been very influential in shaping the debate in philosophy of science over the past decades. His last book Scientific Perspectivism (2006) is very thought-provoking and shows the wonderful creativity that Ron always brought to any debate he contributed to. I had the honour and privilege to discuss the topic of perspectivism with him at the PSA 2014 in Chicago on the occasion of a symposium I organised on the topic. That symposium set me on an intellectual journey I am still exploring and from which I have learned a lot over the past six years with my ERC project entitled Perspectival realism. I am really sorry Ron will not be here to see the main research outcomes of it. He led the way and charted the path: I only had to make the journey for myself (and get lost a few times along the way). RIP Ron.
