Choosing to minor in HPSC has the advantage of introducing you to many undergraduate research options. Our faculty and academic advisor can help you conceive of and complete a research project specific to your particular interests. Whatever your future plans, this project will help you clarify your topics of study, prepare for graduate or professional school, and demonstrate the essential communication skills sought after by employers.
Individualized readings for students in history and philosophy of science and medicine. May be used with consent of instructor as an alternative to other undergraduate courses. May be repeated for a maximum of 5 credit hours in HPSC-X 300 and HPSC-X 392.
Download the HPSC-X 392 contractStudents select one scientific episode (past or current) related to the student’s major and produce an account that illustrates an important methodological or epistemological issue. The final product will be a research paper or creative activity, such as a web-based presentation.
Our department participates in the College of Arts and Sciences Undergraduate Research Experience (ASURE). A program designed for incoming freshmen, ASURE courses introduce you to research practices and methodologies. You then put your new knowledge to work in a laboratory or other research-intensive setting.
