- Course Description
This course surveys both classic and recent approaches to the social aspects of science. Students will learn about issues such as the development and social structure of the scientific community and scientific specialties; collaboration, cooperation, competition, and communication among scientists; scientists' productivity, careers, and rewards; and the relationship between science and society. The course introduces to the main traditions in the sociology of science and technology and their methodologies as well as recent trends in science studies.
