Course Description

This is a second 8 week course

Service learning is a course-based, credit-bearing educational experience in which students participate in an organized service activity that meets community needs and reflect on the service activity as to gain real-world experience, further understanding of course content, achieve a broader appreciation of the discipline’s theories and concepts, and an enhanced sense of civic responsibility (Bringle & Hatcher 1995). As an innovative pedagogy, which provides opportunity for learners to enhance their understanding of concepts and theories in practical environment. It offers more structure and advantages over other experimental learning, such as volunteerism and internship, and supports all involved, from the community recipients, the facilitating faculty, organizers and coordinators, and students.
